Meet Our Optometric Physician

Dr. Carolyn LoBocchiaro is a Brooklyn native residing in Monmouth County with her husband and three children. She thoroughly enjoys being an optometrist, a career she chose when she was only 17 years old.
She prides herself on being thorough, friendly, and efficient, providing exceptional optometric services at her practice, Freehold Eye & Vision Care.

Academic Credentials

Dr. LoBocchiaro was accepted into a highly competitive Joint Degree Undergraduate/Graduate Optometry School Program when she was a senior in high school. She attended and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

She went on to the State University of New York College of Optometry, where she was a four-year member of the International Optometric Honor Society and graduated with honors in 1996.

Early Career

Dr. LoBocchiaro took her residency in Ocular Pathology at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center and St. Albans VA Extended Care Center in Queens, New York where she became proficient in managing ocular infection and vision problems.

She treats dry eye, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and computer vision syndrome. She is credentialed in the administration of oral and topical medications to address various ocular problems.

As an Assistant Clinical Professor

Before beginning her own private practice in Freehold, Dr. LoBocchiaro worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Primary Care and Pediatric Departments at the SUNY College of Optometry.

She conducted routine and emergency eye exams and supervised optometry students as they performed exams. She has completed several internships in vision therapy and has incorporated Behavioral Optometry into her practice.

Dr. LoBocchiaro has earned Diplomate status from the American Board of Optometry as a result of her post-graduate academic accomplishments. She continues to improve her expertise and enjoys keeping abreast of new developments in optometry.

Professional Affiliations

Dr. LoBocchiaro is a member of the American Optometric Association, the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians, and Beta Sigma Kappa.

She’s an exam writer for the American Board of Optometry and has conducted many informative school presentations teaching children how to care for their eyes.

In addition, Dr. LoBocchiaro enjoys educating parents about the importance of regular comprehensive eye exams and how to identify learning-related vision problems as part of her duties as a member of the American Board of Optometry.
